At EXPO REAL in Munich, imoGate explored why reliable data, business context and governance are essential to meaningful AI adoption.
EXPO REAL 2026 brought together real estate professionals, investors and technology providers for three days of industry discussions, networking and innovation.
This year marked imoGate's first participation at EXPO REAL as an exhibitor, with a booth in the Transform & Beyond innovation area. Over three days, our booth became a meeting point for clients, partners and new industry contacts to exchange perspectives on technology and real estate investment.
One highlight was welcoming the Transform & Beyond Guided Tour to our booth, reflecting the interest in innovative solutions across the industry.
Another was the Tech Talk delivered by our CPO, Thomas de Pirey, on 6 October.
Moving from AI Experimentation to business value
During his presentation, "How to Optimize AI Adoption in Real Estate", Thomas addressed a fundamental challenge facing the industry. As artificial intelligence moves from experimentation toward practical implementation, organizations need to look beyond technology itself.
Reliable data is essential. But data quality alone is not enough.
For AI to deliver meaningful results, it must also understand the business context behind the information it processes.
Consider occupancy in real estate investment. Unit occupancy, area occupancy and economic occupancy are all valid indicators. Yet each measures something different and can lead to different interpretations of an asset's performance.
Without shared definitions and clear business rules, even accurate data can produce misleading conclusions.
Bringing business context into the data foundation
This is where data governance and industry expertise become critical.
Organizations need more than structured and consistent information. They need data that carries the right meaning across teams, applications and AI systems.
At imoGate, this approach is central to SmartGate, our data management platform. By combining reliable operational data with real estate business context, SmartGate helps organizations build a trusted foundation for analytics, business applications and AI.
The objective is not simply to automate more processes. It is to enable investment, asset management, finance and risk professionals to make better-informed decisions, with AI supporting rather than replacing their expertise.
The real opportunity for AI in real estate is not just processing information faster. It is understanding that information well enough to make it useful.
Beyond the technology discussions, EXPO REAL once again demonstrated the value of bringing together different perspectives from across the international real estate community.
We thank everyone who visited our booth and joined the conversations in Munich.
